A turbulent awakening of memory

Image
Home is… A haven of cherubs serenading, Skylarking, Like daffodils in the golden Sunlight. Home is… The bridge of companionship, Of camaraderie, Severed by the rift Of distance. Home is… The windowsill overlooking The horizon, With rose-tinted glasses. A dreamer’s niche. Home is… Deja vu. A rebirth of childhood— Rose-white days of innocence Shrunken by aging. Home is… Remembrance A turbulent awakening of memory— Like the photograph of sepia Clinging to the wall.                       Kingsley Charles

REVALUATION OF NAIRA

Image
REVALUATION of the Naira is the solution to Nigeria’s economic recession where issues of high inflation growth rate, high cost of productivity, low local output, high cost of imports, negative GDP growth rate, balance of payment deficit, low purchasing power, economic inactivity is the norm.  In Nigeria’s foreign exchange (FX) market quotation system we have two quotations against the USD-dollars. The “parallel” market; Bureau De Change (BDC) - instituted bank “agents” quotation rate USD/NGR 1:308 and the fixed CBN Exchange rate of USD/NG, 1: 198. The common man would ask how the exchange rates between the two markets are determined, justified, how it impacts Nigeria’s economy and how is there a 65% disparity between the CBN and the parallel market(BDC)-(Corruption; core cause of the status of our economy).  The BDC (parallel market) is instituted market platform to trade currencies with customers to make profit locally. Profits are made from a commission payment on transaction

AGHAMA (QUEEN IDEN)

Image
When the rains refused to go away And the sun in desperation looked the other way. The moon seemed to be out of reach And for this, the stars embarked on an outreach.         The elders of the tribe Met,and decided to appease the celestial beings With a human sacrifice, as a bribe Whose fate is left to earthworms and ravens. But the procurement of the sacrificial item Became a predicament. For the famine brought along with it different    ailment. But this woman willingly gave herself up as a totem.                                           Aghama!!!! How unfortunate, life turned out to be for you. The Belle, who will never be called mama For on this never returning journey the tribe  chose for you.. By: Godwin Henry Osaigbovo          (Pa Shakespeare. Add caption

The Selfie Obsession

Image
THE SELFIE OBSESSION WHAT IS A SELFIE? The oxford dictionary describes it as ‘’another word for self portrait photograph using a hand-held or phone camera’’. Recently, a selfie inclined friend was asking me if some of her selfie pictures were good; if she wasn’t looking too fat and all. Immediately I said ‘ you are not really photogenic but you are beautiful. Oyaaaa…….”face of JABU’’.  Realizing that she felt bad about my response, I quickly said, ‘’u know some people ain’t beautiful but r photogenic and vice versa’’ dat kain fnn naaa…u sef knw . infact ur own beta, me knw even sabi where I stand sef. Then she smiled again. Instagram is fast becoming the most popular selfie social media platform expecting likes, comments and all. All ova d world r selfie addicts. YES SELFIE ADDICTS! In memories of the lost trees

Image
N MEMORIES OF THE LOST TREES At the back seat admiring the trees, Colored flowers at both ends, I looked outside the cloud was blue, Found comfort just looking at the view, Feels like heaven because I was with you. If I do find myself in the west or south, Together with music you complete my thoughts, Whether I happen to be driving from east to north, You’re the driving force to my actions, The driving force to my every reaction. Unfortunately your brothers are cut down, You can bring  me within the levels of your frown, I’ll keep paintings of you in memories of the lost trees, I’ll plant and nurture the others in my home, With joy and love I’ll watch you grow. That you’ll forever be treasured, Is all of my hopes and pleasure, The humming birds will adore you, You’ll be beautified by the rain, In my garden there is no pain.                            Saefhenryosas

A twisted view of marriage

Image
A TWISTED VIEW OF MARRIAGE People will see a man washing his clothes and instead of minding their business, they'll say "Ahh Oga Ejike,go and marry so you'll stop washing". They'll see a man cooking and be like "Bro Ade,you need to get married so you can stop cooking". A mother will look at his 35years old son who cannot wash his own boxers, boil water for tea or even make his own bed....a 35years old that cannot take his plates to the kitchen after eating and tell him "James, you need to settle down....get a woman to take care of you". In different ways, the society subconsciously tell men that they don't marry women for any reason other than cleaning, cooking and childbearing. I begin to wonder, does the average Nigerian man need a wife or a glorified maid? Many women look 3times their age because of stress and exhaustion. You sit down in front of the TV with your phone a d watch your wife work until she's about to pass out. Me

Part-time lover

In the dark of the night

It is dark, no moon, no light  Just darkness, a starless sky  The wind blows, the waves break  A single firefly passes by  Soon the firefly is gone  Leaving me in the darkest of nights  The tiny fly made me anticipate  A sunrise with the finest of lights  Bachok, January 2012 by Aufie Zophy

THE PESSIMISTIC OPTIMIST

Image
Come Follow me And let us Go Together. To that tomorrow Without the high hopes And worries We had yesterday. Then maybe. Just maybe then, we will live For today Without the fears of our dark days. By: Godwin Henry Osaigbovo          (Pa Shakespeare)

I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND

Image
My ways have cease to be the same,                          Like the proud warlord whose.                                 King cannot tame. My heart refuses to beat,                           As the idu tree cut without the Permission of Osa through his priest.               Our memories I recall, now come in bits. Fading like the smell of the okro soup to a dying                                                                   Man. A future with you I fear is uncertain                   Like a door; naked without a curtain.     Forgive me if I acted either,                      Unreasonably or unruly.            We will be friends forever, these thoughts                              Sounding inaudibly.                'An eye they say is for an eye'          But What use is a bird without an eye?  'T' ba n su n kun, a ma rirun' I thank you for being 'who you are' this long run.         Godwin Henry Osaigbovo [Pa Shakespeare]
