A Crying Country

Image
A Crying Country See the land our forefathers suffered for and freed, Giving birth to thorns and injustice, Peace and unity indeed, There ain't no justice, just us. The youths are not the leaders of tomorrow, I believe everyone is in consensus with that now, All I see in tomorrow is a constant cloud of sorrow, That paints itself black to imitate her brow. I see only one hope for Nigeria, a land of honey, Where all tribes, religion and beliefs, Desiring neither power or money, But only the good of her mother land to offer solace and relief.                                      -Saefhenry Osas

Nwin-Nwin: The Legend Begins

Image
In Africa, the sun rises and sets without warning, and the winds blow through the old forests with the songs of legends, the marks of their passing staining the blood-red sands. And some of those legends are true. ****** In the old Edo, the first true black civilization, the empire was home to many tribes and cultures. Bound together by the Obas who ruled after the era of the Ogisos, the sky kings, it stretched almost five thousand miles in either direction; from the steppes of the Dahomey to the swamps of the Niger Delta. Within were the Itshekiri, the Etsako, the proud Ijaws and Urhobos, the noble Esan, the big and powerful Binis and the Igbos both west and east of the Niger River. All paid homage to the Oba and in turn were blessed by him, for the Oba was more than just a man, the Oba was king, the Oba was god on Earth. Oba ghato kpe e! The Bini empire was called Edo and it was powerful, the envy of the neighboring kingdoms to the west and the north. Their trade g

WHEN RIGHTS BECOMES PRIVILEGES

Image
Our city is painted with thoughts and feelings , Take it or leave it is your sentiment, For it is all about silver and gold in their dealings, Instead of working for improvement. With anger, my heartbeat is pounding, Cos it's election time and the usual story will soon be unfurled Blatant rudeness abounding, Where officers think they rule the world. 20 hours electricity is now a privilege, Access to good roads and water is a dream, Free health care is wishful thinking, What a waste and loss to humanity.

FLYING

Image
Something in altitude kindles power-thirst Mere horse-height suffices the emir Bestowing from rich folds of the prodigious turban Upon crawling peasants in the dust Rare imperceptible nods enwrapped In princely boredom.   I too have known A parching of that primordial palate, A quickening to manifest the life Of a long recessive appetite. Though strapped and manacled That day I commanded from the pinnacle. Of a three-tiered world a bridge befitting The proud deranged deity I had become. A magic rug of rushing clouds Billowed and rubbed its white softness Like practiced houri fingers on my soul, And through filters of its gauzy fabric. Revealed wonders of a metropolis, Magic-struck to fairyland proportions. By different adjustments of vision I caused the clouds to float Over a stilled landscape, over towers And masts and smoke-plumed chimneys; Or turned the very earth, unleashed From itself, a roaming fugitive. VIBE THE LYRICS-MOVING ON BY ASA

Image
I had to run away and hide Something happened in the middle of the night They came inside without a sound Suddenly my life was turning upside down All that I could feel was pain And strangers came and took my soul away Like a deadly hurricane I know my life would never be the same Where do you go When you're by yourself Who comes along When you cry for help I know I can't change the past But as the river keeps flowing I'll keep on moving on I'm hoping for a better life Praying that nobody's story turns out like mine The only thing I know is fear Even those with good intentions disappear All that I could feel was pain And strangers came and took my soul away Like a deadly hurricane I know my life would never be the same Where do you go When you're by yourself Who comes along When you cry for help I know I can't change the past But as the river keeps flowing I'll keep on moving on

THE LIES THEY TELL

Image
-I will make $1 Equal to 1 Naira- -Uninterrupted Power Supply -Free/ Improved Education -Employment/ Stipends for Unemployed Graduates  -Prompt Payment of Pension  -Infrastructural Development  -Reduction in Fuel Price    Two bad surroundings, Our politicians and election times, Some fanatic idiots find their stale promises outstanding, But I, take no leisure in weighing their crimes, It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one. At 2018, they all be promising good roads, Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point, Somewhere there my soul explodes, It's almost stupid to expect they won't disappoint, But when the truth is replaced by silence, the silence is a lie. At such I speak in my own words, Find them worthy or vote not, The bag of rice and onions are tools to buy your swords, You've got to understand it's all a small green plot, Anything is better than lies and deceit, get your PVC and stay woke!
