An Ode to 150CEFA

Image
Bonsoir  He had greeted the trader, for it was evening. An unusual day it was, the sun still smiling And shedding light on dark mother earth. At 37 minutes après l'heure de 7. In the market place  Et les hommes et les femmes ont chanté la chanson 150cefa; even if I starve, I am happy.  Merci Dieu, for you are a benevolent God.  Oh my beloved 150cefa, My children will eat today.  'A fisherman's gain a day is 150cefa' Dit papa Beolice, I am happy. It's a blessing from the benevolent Dieu. Oh my beloved 150cefa,My family will smile Today And my boat shall set sail again Tomorrow. A beggar sings out of respect, the 150cefa Song, a song sung by old beggars on the Streets of Dakar, During the reign of France En afrique de l'ouest; 'Today is a good day.  Oh Merci Dieu, for a 150cefa day, is rare.  I am content.' Helo monsieur, Est-ce que tout va bien? vous semblez être perdu. Well here you go, she hands him a blue Cellophane, Vo

We make war That we may live in peace. Show me who won't love to take Good tidings home to their people, That they may sleep in Peace. For those who are at war with others Are not at peace with themselves. *Anthonii Chinedum* In our childhood days we heard our elders Quote inter alia Ralph Waldo Emerson. 'The real and lasting victories Are those of peace, and not of war.' This peace!!! Many have mistook for religion. And Religion! Is so often The death of reason. The quest for peace begins in the home, In the school, in the workplace And the society. But first and foremost, the heart. 'The most valuable possession we can own Is an open heart.' To attain peace We must actually give our liives, Not just our possessions. When we at last give our lives - Bringing into alignment our beliefs And the way we live then, and only Then, Can we begin to fin

I love the White man, And his ways. No you can not change my mind! Know you can not turn my heart aback. I am BLACK ... I was born BLACK ... I will die BLACK ... The night comes with absolute darkness whilst the morning is illuminated with such brightness. This, I have experienced from the days I was but a kid And now I have grown to be a fine king. Still, I have not seen anyone crafty enough to justapose one for the other Even after deep studies and travels through lands of mystic and wonder. I have made haste while it is day Amidst life's hustle and bustle which are but mundane. I have seen, heard and have learnt a lot But life I am unable to call a slut. ENE The salient points to achieving a fulfilled life Does not rest on personal achievements neither on celestial strife An altruist they say; changes much with others Unlike the egoist whose pride makes him a stranger to his own mother. Sweet like a honey drop, As loving as can be, A heart the size of an ocean, A soul filled with glee. You're not just a siren song, You're a lifelong symphony, Your rhythm moves me, To rise up, dance and sing. I'm glad you were born today, My beautiful birthday girl, You make my life stunning, And fill it with such joy. I have many friends, But there's one above the rest. That one is you, You are simply the best. It's a friend like you, In good times and bad, Who asks for nothing, Yet offers a hand. Wherever I go in life, There's only one thing to do, I must have you in my heart; " May your birthday be epic, May you never settle for less, May your special day be special, May you be blessed with the best. May your dreams never die, May your wishes come true, May your birthday be ageless, May you be born anew." As you grow up, may you find... Hope before despair, Passion before bo

She cried, screamed, wailed, for life has been Unfair to her, Who would believe that she smoked and drank Just to rid herself of the thought of Committing suicide. That the aborted child was implanted in her By ichie Okonta; her lat

DANCE WITH THE STORM

Image
We have sought after life, Right from the point when we, tiny semens Inside daddy's two pride bags, Have to fight, so we'd survive.  We have learnt about life, From the point of fear, Where adults screams lingers,  And our inner voices tremble.  We became older and our voices too,  Like waters,  we flow, Casting off all odds,  We ignited a new beginning. We like the iroko tree they say can withstand  The tempestuous music of the wind. But can't resist to be taken aback by the  Many dance steps of the storm.
